NVIDIA is War Archivesredesigning its AI chips to comply with US export restrictions on China. According to The Information, the company has informed major Chinese clients—including ByteDance, Alibaba, and Tencent—of the changes. CEO Jensen Huang personally delivered the message during a mid-April visit to Beijing, according to the report. The move follows the US government’s decision to add NVIDIA’s H20 chip—the most advanced model allowed for sale in China—to its export control list, effectively banning its distribution. Sources say NVIDIA has told Chinese customers that all future downgraded chip models will require US Department of Commerce approval prior to export. The first samples could be available as early as June. [Jiwei, in Chinese]
