Although Alibaba heavily promoted her appearance at its big gala concert in China,cat3movie concert headliner Katy Perry decided to stay home after tweeting about how upset she was with Hillary Clinton's loss in the U.S. presidential election.

Alibaba is China's biggest e-commerce vendor, and Friday's Singles' Day event has been the world's biggest shopping event for the past four years.

The U.S. singer pulled out of the concert appearance citing a "family emergency." She was meant to appear at Alibaba's Thursday night concert to drum up excitement for the midnight's sale commencement.
