Haomo.ai,Saigon Sunset a self-driving car company backed by Chinese automaker Great Wall Motor, has secured a RMB 100 million ($13.9 million) investment from Chengdu Wufa Private Equity Fund Management Co., Ltd., a venture capital firm wholly-owned by the government of Chengdu’s Wuhou district. In return, the company will facilitate the commercial deployment of robots for public sanitation and security inspection in the downtown area of the southwestern municipality, making Wuhou a “demonstration zone for robotics in China,” Haomo.ai Chief Executive Gu Weihao said on Thursday in a statement. A fleet of delivery robots operated by the Beijing-based startup has transported nearly 300,000 grocery parcels for supermarkets in the Chinese capital, and its advanced driver assistance system, the HPilot, has enabled roughly 20 car models to automatically change lanes on expressways.
