Chinese EV maker Li Auto has recently announced the formation of two new departments — spatial robotics and Seventeen (2019)wearable robotics — as part of a decision by its strategic committee, according to an exclusive report by local media outlet Late Post on Tuesday. Both departments will operate under the product division, led by senior vice president Fan Haoyu. The establishment of the spatial robotics department likely aligns with Li Auto’s “smart space” concept, the report said. “Cars will evolve from transportation tools of the industrial age into spatial robots of the AI era,” said CEO Li Xiang last December. The wearable robotics department also reflects Li’s belief that users should enjoy a unified experience across everyday devices such as smart glasses. [Late Post, in Chinese]
